– Gdańsk Tech supports the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which is why we want the concepts submitted to this year’s edition of the Gdańsk Tech Citizens' Budget to take these goals into account. Caring for the quality of life and our environment is simply our duty – emphasizes the Vice-Rector for Development, PhD Eng. Justyna Kucińska-Lipka, DSc, Prof. Gdańsk Tech.
Over the years, the academic community has chosen for implementation from the citizens' budget funds, among others: modernization of auditoriums, arrangement of coworking spaces and relaxation zones, construction of a sauna at the Academic Sports Center, planting of fruit trees, installation of small electronic waste collection stations, photovoltaic installations, and water dispensers.
– The citizens' budget is an initiative addressed to us: students, PhD students, and employees. We know best what to do to improve the space around us. All it takes is an idea and a little willingness to truly enhance the conditions of studying or working. At the same time, it’s great fun and an opportunity to leave a unique legacy – says Ignacy Rogoń, Chair of the Doctoral Students’ Self-Government of Gdańsk Tech, member of the Rector's Committee for the Citizens' Budget at Gdańsk Tech.

This year’s edition of the Gdańsk Tech Citizens' Budget has PLN 420,000 allocated for employee projects and PLN 180,000 for student projects. Each proposer should obtain the support of five people from the university, clearly describe the project's subject, and estimate the cost of its implementation.
All proposals should align with at least one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Additionally, ideas compliant with the Implementation Strategy of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Declaration of Social Responsibility of the University at Gdańsk Tech for 2024-2030 will be favored. More information can be found in the regulations.
– Our university is the first in the region to undertake the implementation of its own citizens' budget. It can be said without hesitation that the previous editions have been successful, and every year we review the incoming proposals with great interest – says Prof. PhD DSc Ewa Klugmann-Radziemska, Chair of the Rector's Committee for the Citizens' Budget.
After verification, projects will be subjected to voting – employees and students will decide which ones will be implemented.
