Gdansk University of Technology took second place in the country and was ranked highest among technical universities in the "Initiative of Excellence - Research University" competition. The aim of the competition of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education was to identify and support the top 10 universities that will become research centers and be able to compete effectively with the best universities in Europe and the world.
