Supplementary maternity leave
Accordingly, PhD students at the Doctoral School who are parents of premature babies and newborns requiring hospitalization will be able to apply for suspension of their training in connection with this circumstance as well.
Supplemental maternity leave can be taken after the end of the basic maternity leave, in the case of child birth:
- before the completion of the 28th week of pregnancy or with a birth weight of no more than 1,000 grams - at the rate of one week of supplementary maternity leave for each week of the child's stay in the hospital until the end of the 15th week after birth;
- after the completion of the 28th week of pregnancy and before the completion of the 37th week of pregnancy and with a birth weight of more than 1,000 g - at the rate of one week of supplementary maternity leave for each week of the child's stay in the hospital until the expiration of the 8th week after delivery;
- after the completion of the 37th week of pregnancy and its stay in the hospital, provided that the child's stay in the hospital after the birth will be at least 2 consecutive days, with the first of these days falling between the 5th and 28th day after the birth - at the rate of one week of supplementary maternity leave for each week of the child's stay in the hospital between the 5th day and the expiration of the 8th week after the birth.
Supplementary maternity leave is granted once upon application submitted not less than 21 days before the end of maternity leave. The application is accompanied by a certificate issued by the hospital (hospital discharge (Hospital Treatemnt Records), epicrisis) where the child stayed, and the documents specified in the regulations issued pursuant to Article 186 8a of the Labor Code.
