Data practices in an interdisciplinary perspective - building good standards and universal solutions

The library recently submitted a proposal for an "open call project" funded through the EOSC Future project using the RDA open call mechanism. We have received a positive evaluation result and started the launch preparations. The project specifies the overview and challenges of data sharing practices in four scientific disciplines - architecture, civil engineering, economics and natural language processing. Our review will describe the opportunities for data sharing in diverse disciplines, workflow practices in data management, implementation of metadata standards, and the social aspect of sharing data, such as researchers' attitudes and discipline-specific traditions.

The project will make a contribution to the RDA shared body of knowledge related to the commonalities and the differences between the data sharing practices of different communities.

Simultaneously, we would like to implement our existing data repository (MOST WIEDZY Open Research Data Catalog) into the EOSC Portal Catalogue and Marketplace as a data provider.

Methodology
  • Four semi-structured interviews will be conducted with researchers to develop case studies for architecture, civil engineering, economics and natural language processing disciplines.
  • Thematic analysis will be carried out, and recommendations will be made regarding standards for collecting and sharing data and metadata.
  • Collected data will then be compared and analysed for possible cooperation between disciplines.
  • Report as well as 4 infographics will be created, clearly illustrating the most critical procedures and requirements for data management within four disciplines.
  • At the same time, IT team will adapt our research data repository to the requirements of the EOSC Portal so that it can become part of the infrastructure and a data provider.
