Doctoral School representative at the “Foreign Students in Poland 2025” conference | Gdańsk University of Technology

During the event: 

• The achievements of the Study in Poland programme were discussed, along with the challenges related to further enhancing the internationalisation of universities. 
• We listened to speeches by experts, rectors of leading Polish universities, and representatives of institutions responsible for internationalisation, who introduced strategies to improve, among other things, the functioning of doctoral schools. 
• Particular attention was given to the internationalisation of scientific research and academic cooperation at the doctoral level, highlighting the importance of international research projects in increasing the competitiveness of young researchers. 
• Attention was drawn to the key role of doctoral schools in internationalising universities and building their prestige, along with the need to increase the number of doctoral students in Poland. 
• The significance of academic mobility and programmes such as Erasmus+ in shaping future leaders in science was highlighted. 
• The need to support doctoral students in securing international grants and developing cooperation with foreign alumni was discussed. 
• The importance of exchanging ideas with neighbouring countries and supporting academic mobility to these countries was particularly emphasised, as it plays a key role in fostering strong regional academic collaboration. 
• A new legal act – the so-called Visa Act – was announced, with its implementation planned for spring 2025. It will introduce priority procedures for obtaining a Polish visa and legalising the stay of doctoral students and young researchers.
