3rd National Conference of Doctoral Schools – Summary and Participation of the Doctoral School at Gdańsk Tech
On April 3–4, 2025, the third edition of the National Conference of Doctoral Schools took place, organized by the AGH Doctoral School and the National Association of Doctoral Schools (Ogólnopolskie Porozumienie Szkół Doktorskich).
The event brought together 171 participants, including representatives of doctoral schools from across Poland and key institutions involved in doctoral education, such as the Ministry of Science and Higher Education and the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA).
The Doctoral School at Gdańsk University of Technology was actively represented by Prof. Ewa Lechman, Deputy Director for Education, Quality, and PQF, and Prof. Maciej Bagiński, Deputy Director for Development and Internationalisation.
During the conference, key issues in doctoral education were addressed, including the evaluation of doctoral schools, funding mechanisms, the status of doctoral candidates at universities, internationalisation of education, and doctoral supervision. The event served as a valuable platform for inspiring conversations and substantive debates aimed at further enhancing the Polish doctoral education system.
The National Association of Doctoral Schools plays a vital role in fostering cooperation and knowledge exchange among doctoral schools. One example of this collaboration is the regular series of meetings for school directors, titled “Challenges of Doctoral School Management – Coffee Talks”, in which the Doctoral School at Gdańsk Tech actively participates.
We extend our congratulations to the organisers for creating an excellent setting for discussion and thank all participants for their active engagement and valuable contributions.
We look forward to the 4th National Conference of Doctoral Schools, to be held next year at the University of Wrocław.
