Doctoral School at Gdańsk Tech at the ENHANCE VP Research Group Meeting in Milan
On March 20-21 this year, representatives from Gdańsk Tech participated in the ENHANCE VP Research Group Meeting which was hosted by Politecnico di Milano. This meeting marked an important step in strengthening research collaboration within the ENHANCE Alliance, following the conclusion of the ENHANCERIA project (SwafS, Horizon) last September.
Gdańsk Tech was represented by Vice-Rector for Research prof. Dariusz Mikielewicz, the Head of the International Relations Office Anna Modrzejewska, and the Deputy Director for Education, Quality and PQF prof. Ewa Lechman. The discussions focused on the future of scientific research, innovation, and education within the ENHANCE Alliance, emphasising the importance of strengthening and improving doctoral education. The key topics discussed included:
- a new mentoring programme for early-stage researchers conducting research in STEM fields,
- a novel initiative to enhance the competences of supervisors,
- joint doctoral programmes and PhD student exchanges,
- possibilities to use joint research infrastructure.
During the meeting, attention was also drawn to the need to support supervisors in their daily work with doctoral students, and the foundations of a new upskilling programme for supervisors were discussed.
Much time was also dedicated to discussions between vice-rectors for research and doctoral school directors from ENHANCE partner universities, including TU Delft, ETH Zurich, Universitat Politècnica de València, NTNU, and Warsaw University of Technology. The next VP Research Group meeting will be held in Gdańsk this autumn, offering a valuable opportunity to strengthen collaboration within the ENHANCE Alliance.
