MSc Eng. Balbina Makurat-Kasprolewicz, a doctoral student at the Doctoral School at Gdańsk University of Technology, scientifically affiliated with the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology, who began her PhD training in the academic year 2021/2022 in the discipline of mechanical engineering under the supervision of Dr. Agnieszka Ossowska and Dr. Marcin Wekwejt was one of the Gdańsk Tech representatives at the jubilee edition of the Society For Biomaterials Annual Meeting & Exposition, held from 9 to 12 April 2025 in Chicago, USA.
This is one of the world’s most important events dedicated to biomaterials, annually bringing together hundreds of experts – researchers, doctors, and representatives of the biomedical industry.
During the conference, MSc Eng. Balbina Makurat-Kasprolewicz presented the results of her research in the form of a scientific poster entitled: “Influence of Ultrasound on Micro-Arc Oxidized Coatings on Ti-13Nb-13Zr Alloy for Biomedical Application.”
Her participation in the event was financed under the PROM Programme (NAWA, BPI/PRO/2024/1/00039), and the research is being conducted as part of a PRELUDIUM grant awarded by the National Science Centre (no. 2023/49/N/ST5/03551).
The conference was also attended by representatives of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology and the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics:
- Anna Melnyk and Magdalena Górecka (Scientific Club “Materials in Medicine”, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology)
- Dr. Marcin Wekwejt (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology)
- Dr. Karolina Cysewska (Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics)
