xyz
MSc Eng. Jakub Baczyński-Keller, a doctoral student at the Doctoral School of Gdańsk University of Technology, received an honourable mention during the international conference of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) – the world’s largest interdisciplinary scientific event, annually bringing together researchers, journalists, and decision-makers from around the globe. This year’s edition was held under the theme “Science Shaping Tomorrow.”

From among all PhD students participating in the event, Jakub was awarded an honourable mention for presenting his scientific poster entitled “Deep Dive into Macrophages’ Role in Regenerative Response to Zebrafish Spine Injury” in the category of developmental biology, genetics, and immunology. The recognition, along with Gdańsk University of Technology’s affiliation, was noted in the April issue of Science.

- This is a truly exceptional recognition of my work as a researcher - says Jakub Baczyński-Keller. - While scientific articles are often the result of years of teamwork, this conference honour for an individual presentation is a personal acknowledgement of my efforts — it shows that I’m doing something right. Moreover, standing shoulder to shoulder with doctoral students from institutions like Harvard, Stanford, or MIT was an incredible experience in itself.

Academic Path and International Experience

Jakub has been a doctoral student at our School since the 2022/2023 academic year and is affiliated with the Faculty of Chemistry. He conducts his research under the supervision of Prof. Paweł Sachadyn, DSc, Eng., and Dr Rafał Płatek, from the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology at the Faculty of Chemistry, Gdańsk University of Technology.

As a recipient of the prestigious Fulbright Junior Research Award, Jakub completed a several-month research internship and carried out a project at the Department of Molecular Biology at Massachusetts General Hospital at Harvard Medical School.
