Love Data Week 2025 - Fun Contest

To celebrate the international research data event LOVE DATA WEEK 2025 (February 10-14, 2025), the PG Library invites you to participate in the fun contest "Me and My Data".
This event aligns with this year’s theme – "Whose Data Is It, Anyway?" – and aims to encourage participants to create creative presentations showcasing themselves as data creators. The emphasis is placed on highlighting the data creator at the moment of data generation before it is deposited, shared, or processed.
We invite all academic community members to participate, including researchers, students, and staff. Together, we will become data creators in different areas of our activities.
Contest Rules
Participants must present themselves and the data they generate in any form (graphic, infographic, photograph, video, interactive format, 3D model, etc.) by choosing one of the following thematic categories:
-
A: My Research (PG researcher)
-
B: My Studies (PG student)
-
C: My Work (PG staff member)
-
D: My Hobby (any PG academic community member)
To create their contest entry, participants may use the following resources:
- Self-generated data (own data resources)
- Publicly available datasets
- Online tools
- Social media
- …and more.
Submissions
- Between February 10 and 14, 2025, participants may submit their entries individually or in teams of up to three people.
- Entries must be signed with participant details (full name, initials, etc.).
Participation in the contest implies consent for indefinite and free public sharing of submitted materials (signed work with description) by the Gdańsk University of Technology Library. - Entries can be submitted online via promocja.bpg@pg.edu.pl or delivered in person to the Lending Library in Main Building.
Evaluation and Prizes
- The evaluation committee (PG Library Promotion Team) will assess submissions based on established criteria (e.g., aesthetics, readability, innovation, relevance to the theme).
- Prizes will be awarded to the top three winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place).
- The best works will be showcased on the PG Library website and social media.
You can find examples in the gallery at the bottom of the page.
We look forward to your inspiring ideas!
Love Data Week
Every year around Valentine’s Day, Love Data Week is celebrated worldwide. This event aims to raise global awareness about the importance of data science and the skills needed for proper data storage and sharing. Regardless of their diversity, all data should be well-organized and accessible to support future research.
During Love Data Week, various online and in-person events such as webinars, workshops, lectures, and more occur worldwide.
