Representation of the ENHANCE alliance in a topical group within FOREU4ALL | Gdańsk University of Technology

The inaugural meeting of the Library & Open Science Topical Group, established under the FOREU4ALL project, was held on May 16, 2025. The initiative brings together all 64 alliances of European Universities and other higher education stakeholders, fostering close cooperation and creating opportunities to exchange good practices. One of the project's undertakings will be establishing topical groups on key issues relevant to the academic community to achieve the goals set.

One such group is the Library & Open Science Topical Group, which mainly brings together librarians, researchers, and administrative staff supporting research from all European Universities' alliances.

The ENHANCE alliance, of which Gdansk University of Technology is a member, is represented in the group by Magdalena Szuflita-Zurawska, Gdańsk Tech Rector's proxy for Open Science and Open Science Competence Center Leader.

The main objectives of the group are:

• Strengthen OS, OER and citizen science practices
• Enhance academic mobility, including resource sharing
• Support digital transformation and sustainability
• Develop professional capacity and build communities
• Influence policy and infrastructure development

The group aims to provide tangible benefits to the library network, the alliance and the broader academic community by publishing practical results and evidence-based recommendations.

The group is coordinated by its chairman, Marc Martinez, Director of the Sciences Po Library in Paris from the CIVICA Alliance, and co-chair Zhengdong Shi, Open Science Expert at the University Paris-Saclay, from the EUGLOH Alliance. Subsequent meetings will also determine the composition of the steering committee and then define the subgroups that will function within this thematic group. The group will also engage in workshops on open science topics in the following steps.
