Open Access Week 2025
This year’s International Open Access Week (October 20–26) is held under the theme “Who Owns Our Knowledge?”
The theme encourages us to think about who has access to research results, how knowledge is created, and who can share it.
In recent years, initiatives such as Diamond Open Access and Subscribe to Open have grown, while many journals and institutions have regained control over their own publications and data, promoting open and collaborative science.
At the same time, new challenges are emerging — for example, using scientific content to train artificial intelligence models without the authors’ consent.
That’s why International Open Access Week reminds us that open science is not only about technology, but above all about collaboration, trust, and responsibility.
It is also an idea supported by UNESCO, emphasizing the importance of equal access to knowledge for everyone.
The Library is also joining the OAWeek celebrations and invites you to take part in webinars held on MS Teams (in polish language).
