The Association of University Museums was established on the initiative of the academic museum community, whose cooperation began in 2012. The first meetings of representatives of university museums led to the creation of the “University Museums” project, and later – in 2014 – to the establishment of the Association.
The aim of the organisation is to develop university museums and to protect and promote academic heritage. Its activities include organising academic conferences, carrying out research and educational projects, publishing, and national and international cooperation.
The Association brings together the university museum community in Poland, supports the exchange of experience, and promotes the importance of academic collections as an important part of science, culture, and education.
