Articles published under the subscription model in hybrid ACS journals in 2026 before the programme launch may be converted to open access under the programme ("retroactivation"). ACS has provided ICM with a list of articles meeting the retroactivation criteria, and ICM will send corresponding authors a proposal to convert these articles to open access by 25 June. ICM cannot be fully certain that the ACS list is complete; therefore, authors who wish to use retroactivation but do not receive such a proposal by 25 June may contact the programme coordinator at ICM at: b.kleyny@icm.edu.pl. Retroactivation does not apply to open access articles published in hybrid or open ACS journals in 2026 before the programme launch at the authors' own expense, as there is no possibility of including these articles in the programme or reimbursing the costs to the authors.
