SPARC Europe is an international non-profit organisation, active since 2004, whose main mission is to promote Open Science and Open Education in Europe. SPARC Europe works with the European Commission, the European Parliament and with key institutions in many European countries that shape Open Access policy. The organisation deals, among other things, with open access to publications, open peer review, open data, open educational resources, and research evaluation and integrity. The main target groups of SPARC Europe's activities are European research and education policy makers, research communities, universities, academic libraries and providers of Open Science and Open Education infrastructure.
The Gdańsk Tech Library has been a member of SPARC Europe since November 2017. Kamila Kokot-Kanikuła from the Digital and Multimedia Collection Building Section of the Gdańsk Tech Library is involved in the working group European Network of Open Education Librarians. ENOEL's mission is to provide the conditions and opportunities to maximise access, use and reuse of Open Educational Resources for all, while respecting diversity, affordability and equality to meet local needs.
Goals:
- strengthen Open Access, Open Scholarship / Open Science and Open Education policy in Europe and align where possible,
- advocate for open in research and education,
- strive to enable more equity in Open so that all those who wish to publish and share research and education resources openly are better enabled to do so,
- promote diversity in publishing Open research and education,
- raise the impact of publicly-funded research by reimagining the way that Open research is rewarded and incentivised,
- help sustain the Open infrastructure/service ecosystem.

OpenAIRE AMKE is a non-profit organisation whose mission is to shift science communication towards openness and transparency and to facilitate innovative ways of communicating and monitoring research. The organisation operates on a European e-infrastructure offering a diverse set of public services to accelerate implementation of Open Science. Activities are supported by a network of experts located in key national organisations in European countries, within the so-called National Open Access Desks. Users of OpenAIRE services include researchers, project coordinators, policy makers, research organisations, universities and libraries. OpenAIRE is a key implementer of the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
OpenAIRE supports a Community of Practice for Training Coordinators (CoP), which is an informal network for sharing the experiences of people organising training programmes in research areas and e-infrastructures. Magdalena Szuflita-Żurawska, head of the Scientific and Technical Information Section of the Gdańsk Tech Library, is a member of this working group.
Activities:
- promoting Open Science and providing information on tools to support the Open Access,
- providing Open Science services and interoperability,
- supporting the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) initiative,
- strengthening European support for Open Access policies through the NOAD association,
- briefing and advising key national research coordinators on Open Access issues,
- supporting the improvement of Open Access policies and data management plans,
- providing training on data management plans and good research data practices,
- collecting information on peer-reviewed Open Access publications,
- assisting developers of research data repositories to comply with OpenAIRE guidelines.

Association was established in 1971 as a small group of librarians from European research libraries. Its aim was to emphasize the "voice" of European scientific, national and academic libraries in the international library environment. In 2009, the association was transformed into a foundation operating under Dutch law and under the patronage of the Council of Europe, with its seat in the Hague [LIBER executive board].
Currently, LIBER associates over 420 institutions from countries belonging to the Council of Europe as well as its associated members (i.e. Canada, USA or Turkey). It is the largest European library association, whose mission is cooperation and integration with the motto "Enabling World Class Research". Since April 2021, LIBER Europe has been a member of the EARE (The European Alliance for Research Excellence) agreement supporting the development and quality of research in Europe.
Goals:
- to create an information infrastructure so that research at LIBER institutions is conducted at a world-class level,
- to increase user awareness of LIBER institutions through the services and facilities offered,
- to promote European libraries in Europe and beyond,
- to support the professional development of librarians and scientific information professionals (e.g. through a leadership programme or training offer).
International Association of University Libraries

The International Association of University Libraries was founded in 1955 in Düsseldorf, Germany. As an international, non-governmental organisation, it was intended to provide a forum for the exchange of experience for library managers and for joint initiatives affecting information infrastructure. IATUL's activities generally revolve around issues related to scientific information and user services. Since 2014, libraries of non-technical universities have also been able to join the association.
The Gdańsk Tech Library has been a member of IATUL since March 2017 and in December 2019 hosted and organised the IATUL Seminar.
Goals:
- development of library standards,
- publication of recommendations for legislative bodies,
- organisation of advanced training courses,
- informing members about projected trends in university libraries,
- publication of "guides to good practice",
- presenting the community, speaking on its behalf,
- cooperation with similar organisations,
- setting a strategic plan for its activities.

CoreTrustSeal is an international, community based, non-governmental, and non-profit organization promoting sustainable and trustworthy data infrastructures. It offers to any interested data repository a core level certification based on the Core Trustworthy Data Repositories Requirements. This universal catalogue of requirements reflects the core characteristics of trustworthy data repositories. The CoreTrustSeal certification is envisioned as the first step in a global framework for repository certification which includes the extended level certification (nestor-Seal DIN 31644) and the formal level certification (ISO 16363). On October 2023 MOST Wiedzy Open Research Data Catalogue was granted a CoreTrustSeal certificate for the duration of three years.
Within CoreTrustSeal, there is an Assembly of Reviewers that assesses the credibility of repositories seeking certification. It includes qualified volunteer reviewers appointed by certified repositories, CoreTrustSeal board members and World Data System scientific committee members from certified data repositories. The assembly of reviewers includes Magdalena Szuflita-Żurawska, head of the Scientific and Technical Information Section in the Gdańsk Tech Library.
