Rest breaks/leave policy for PhD students.

A PhD student is entitled to a maximum of 8 weeks' leave (rest breaks) per academic year.

This time is in addition to the standard public holidays and must be taken within a single academic year and cannot be accumulated over the years.

1) Breaks/leaves longer than two weeks

Any break longer than 2 weeks must be taken during the summer period, between 15 July 2024 and 15 September 2024 in A.Y. 2023/2024, which is an official period free of classes (no classes are scheduled during this period). The exact dates are published each year in the academic calendar of the doctoral school. Outside these dates, only breaks of up to 2 weeks will be approved (requests for longer breaks will be refused).

More information about dates free from classes for PhD students in A.Y. 2023/2024 can be found HERE.

2) Breaks/leaves up to 2 weeks.

Short breaks/leaves for personal reasons (up to two weeks) will generally be approved without restriction, provided that they are approved by the supervisor and the head of the relevant organisational unit responsible for teaching a class (if a doctoral student teaches classes with students or is obliged to participate in them).

A PhD student should fill in the form in mojaPG (myGUT) system in the „Student” application: eDocuments: PhD student's request for a rest break and submit it to the supervisor for approval. The signatures will be collected electronically. The school office will keep record of your rest breaks.

The absence of a doctoral student due to illness must be confirmed by a doctor's note (e-sick note).

NOTE: You are obliged to inform us immediately at doctoral-school@pg.edu.pl if you have been infected with Sars-Cov-2 or subjected to quarantine or isolation due to COVID-19 !
