Gdansk University of Technology at EOSC Symposium 2025 | Gdańsk University of Technology

On 3-5 November 2025, EOSC Symposium 2025 took place in Brussels, organized by the EOSC Association with the support of the EOSC Gravity and EOSC Focus projects. Gdansk University of Technology was represented by Magdalena Szuflita-Żurawska, MSc, the Rector's Plenipotentiary for Open Science and Head of the Open Science Competence Center, as well as Kacper Donat, MSc Eng., from the Web Services Development and Maintenance Team at the IT Services Center.
This year's symposium was dedicated to the transition of the EOSC Federation into its operational phase. The EOSC Federation, launched in October 2024, is an infrastructure consisting of national and thematic nodes that provide access points for researchers to research data and services supporting scientific processes. Currently, the build-up phase is underway for thirteen pilot nodes, including the Polish national node EOSC-PL.

EOSC-PL was established as a result of collaboration between scientific institutions and is coordinated by the National Science Centre. The node comprises: the National Science Centre (NCN), Academic Computer Centre Cyfronet AGH, Interdisciplinary Centre for Mathematical and Computational Modelling at the University of Warsaw (ICM UW), Gdańsk University of Technology, and the Institute of Oceanology of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Gdańsk University of Technology has been actively participating as a member of the EOSC Association since September 2020, with the role of delegate on behalf of the university fulfilled by the Vice-Chancellor for IT, Andrzej Sobecki, PhD Eng.

During the symposium, representatives of Gdansk University of Technology presented a poster and demo showcasing practical applications of EOSC-PL. They presented an example research workflow in which researchers integrate data from Polish and European repositories, process it using available analytical tools, and then publish results in accordance with open science principles.
