Acquisition:

• acquiring print and electronic publications, journals, standards, and other library materials, both paid and free of charge, to meet the University’s needs
• maintaining both summary and detailed records of library material acquisitions and withdrawals
• organizing interlibrary exchanges in collaboration with national and international institutions
• managing surplus and duplicate books and periodicals
• handling the accounting of printed and electronic collections
• coordinating and participating in stocktaking activities, including preparing documentation after inventory checks
• collaborating with the Circulation Section in organizing and carrying out stocktaking of library collections

The Section collaborates closely with the Gdańsk Tech University staff. Academic staff and Gdańsk Tech students may use the relevant online form to request the purchase of books and resources for Gdańsk Tech Library collections.

Cataloguing:

• performing bibliographic and subject cataloguing of books, journals, and other library materials
• co-cataloguing books and journals, and contributing to the National Library Descriptors in the shared cataloguing environment
• conducting retrospective cataloguing

Gdańsk Tech Library cataloging team offers methodological support and consultations for other librarians from the Tricity libraries.

Electronic resources:

• managing and administering electronic resources
• providing access to subscribed and purchased electronic resources
• negotiating licences and agreements with electronic resource providers
• negotiating agreements for open access publishing services
• implementing open access publishing programmes at the University
• monitoring and evaluating use; analysing usage data to assess the value and impact of electronic resources
• representing the Library in consortia
