How to feel good at work? To what extent does the food we eat and physical condition influence our mood? Does a prescription for happiness exist? We invite our employees and students to a conference on „Well-being, how to take care of yourself (at work)?”, on 10-14 October.

The conference is a part of the project „Hey, are you ok?”, which started mid September at Gdańsk University of Technology. The project focuses on the well-being of staff and students through organization of individual consultations with a psychologist, workshops on cultural differences and mediation, seminars on how to cope in crisis situations, as well as yoga and mindfulness classes (more about the project: https://link.pg.edu.pl/1AQDq).

During October conference, organized by the International Relations Office, HR Center and Academic Sports Center, the staff and students of Gdańsk Tech will be able to obtain more information about the project and learn how to take care of their well-being at work and during studies on a regular basis.

Anna Modrzejewska, Head of the International Relations Office: - We are glad that Gdańsk Tech took example of universities worldwide and started a wide discussion on the wellbeing of the members of our academic community. Concern for mental and physical health of employees, at Gdańsk Tech also students, is currently the priority of modern organizations. We have just returned from European Association for International Education conference, where wellbeing was the center of discussion. World Mental Health Day on 10 October, will be a good occasion to initiate a discussion on this important issue.

Conference program

"Well-being, how to take care of yourself (at work)?” conference will take place on 10-14 October during working hours. The organizers invite you to lectures and presentations scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Tuesday and Thursday, you can join healthy spine class at the Academic Sports Center, located on ul. Zwycięstwa.

- In order to enable most employees and students to attend the event, the lecture scheduled for Monday 10 October, will be repeated on Wednesday and Friday. Upon registering for the event, you need to select one day you are available to join the conference – says Marta Wojcieszenko from IRO.

Not only will the International Relations Office tell about the „Hey, are you ok?” project, but there also will be presentations by the HR Center and the Academic Sports Center.

- The „well-being” idea is a holistic approach to an individual and to satisfaction of their needs. In a presentation titled “Take care of your well-being here and now”, the HR Center will explain why it is important to take care of one’s well-being, sense of happiness and job satisfaction. The idea behind the presentation is to indicate HR areas that create the organizational culture of care for the employee – says Agnieszka Szwocha from the HR Center – Training.

The Academic Sports Center, on the other hand, will help to answer the following questions: Does maintaining physical fitness through regular physical exercise positively influence mental disposition at work? Should we find a moment to move and stimulate our body while working daily "at the desk"? During the conference, the Academic Sports Center will also present sports activities available in the offer for Gdańsk Tech employees.

Events of the project include a meeting with a dietitian - Agnieszka Cholewińska, who works in the Quality Management Office. Agnieszka will share a few simple rules that make lunch at work help us maintain our good mood. The conference will also include delicious and healthy catering.
