The Gdańsk University of Technology is part of the European and global academic community. The University Community works to enhance social well-being and sustainability of the Earth's ecosystem - in cooperation with universities from Europe and the world, and with entities from other sectors.

The University's guiding values include concern for the conditions and quality of life of present and future generations. The University actively participates in the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the European Commission's European Green Deal and applies the principles expressed in such international and especially Community stances as Magna Charta Universitatum, the European Code of Conduct for Research Integrity, the European Charter for Researchers, the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, the Utrecht Declaration on Academic Freedom and the Lima Declaration on Academic Freedom and Autonomy of Higher Education Institutions.

The overriding academic values guiding Gdańsk University of Technology include:
1. Development of internationalization as a lever for the development of the European identity respectful of national cultures and their heritage; 
2. Mutual recognition of education, periods of study, and learning outcomes - in accordance with the Lisbon Convention - as a foundation for the development of the European Educational Area;
3. Multilingualism as one of the forms of implementing the motto In varietate concordia
