Signing of the agreement with the University of Djelfa from Algieria

Until now, the collaboration between scientists from Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Djelfa has been mainly faculty-based and individual. The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding officially formalizes this cooperation at the institutional level, opening a new chapter that includes joint educational programs, scientific research, and the exchange of students and staff. During the meeting, the development of educational programs, academic mobility, and organization of joint seminars and conferences were discussed. The Algerian side expressed interest in expanding the exchange of lecturers and students, which will create new opportunities for the development of both academic communities.
The cooperation between Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Djelfa has been ongoing since 2018 and includes teaching visits, scientific seminars, doctoral internships, and numerous conferences organized on both sides. In 2024, representatives of the University of Djelfa visited Gdańsk Tech and became acquainted with its modern research infrastructure, including the LINTE^2 Center. In May 2025, Prof. El Hadj Ailam visited GUT within the PROM program, conducting lectures and scientific consultations with doctoral students.
The University of Djelfa is a dynamically developing public university in northern Algeria, educating over 30,000 students across multiple faculties. Its educational offer covers a wide range of disciplines—from technical and exact sciences to humanities and social sciences. The university actively develops international cooperation, particularly in the fields of engineering, applied research, and academic mobility.
Rector Prof. El Hadj Ailam is a recognized specialist in electrical engineering, with particular expertise in the design and realization of superconducting machines. Since May 2021, he has headed the University of Djelfa, having previously served as rector and vice-rector at other Algerian universities. He has extensive scientific and administrative experience as well as long-standing involvement in international research projects and doctoral education.
The signed agreement marks an important step towards deepening academic and scientific cooperation between Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Djelfa, opening new opportunities for students and staff at both institutions
