Gdańsk Tech strengthens ties with Shanghai Institute of Technology

On 12 June 2025, Gdańsk University of Technology had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the Shanghai Institute of Technology (SIT), led by Vice President Professor Chen Haijin. The visit marked a significant step forward in the cooperation between the two institutions and concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a framework for future collaboration.

The SIT delegation included Professor Chen Haijin, Vice President; Professor Yongzheng Fang, Dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering; Associate Professor Jingshan Hou of the School of Materials Science and Engineering; and Associate Professor Yuan Liu, Head of the Department of International Business in the School of Economics and Management.

From the Gdańsk Tech side, the meeting was attended by Vice-Rector Professor Józef Sienkiewicz; Professor Christian Jungnickel, Rector's Representative for Cooperation with Asian Higher Education Institutions; Professor Michał Tomczak, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Management and Economics; Professor Justyna Plotka-Wasylka, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry; Professor Anna Zielińska-Jurek; and Ms. Anna Modrzejewska, Head of the International Relations Office.

The visit builds on over a decade of collaboration between SIT and Gdańsk Tech. The partnership began in 2013 and has steadily developed through exchange agreements and academic visits. During the recent meeting, both institutions confirmed their intention to advance with student exchange agreements at the bachelor’s and master’s levels, particularly in the areas of chemistry and management and economics.

This renewed agreement highlights Gdańsk Tech’s ongoing commitment to strengthening international academic partnerships and creating new opportunities for students and staff on the global stage.
