On 13 June 2025, Gdańsk University of Technology had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from Gyeongsangnam-do Province in South Korea, visiting Gdańsk as part of the official signing of a cooperation plan with the Pomeranian Voivodeship for the years 2025–2029. During their visit to the region, the delegation met with representatives of academic, economic and governmental institutions, including Gdańsk Tech.

The highlight of their visit to the university was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Changwon National University (CWNU) – a technical university with a strong engineering profile, actively involved in the development of South Korea's industrial sector and recognized under the prestigious "Glocal University 30" program, which supports the internationalisation of Korean higher education.

The delegation was led by CWNU Rector, Professor Park Minwon, accompanied by Kim Jongpyo, team coordinator in the Planning Division, and Park Haeun, coordinator for international cooperation and education. The CWNU representatives were joined by officials from the regional government and industry of Gyeongsangnam-do Province, including representatives of the Department of International Trade, Public Information Office, Provincial Council, the City of Mirang, and the Nano Convergence Department – a branch of the province’s advanced technology sector.

Gdańsk Tech was represented by Vice-Rector for Development, Professor Justyna Kucińska-Lipka, along with Professor Christian Jungnickel, Rector’s Representative for Cooperation with Asian Higher Education Institutions; Anna Modrzejewska, Head of the International Relations Office; and Monika Czerepak, Deputy Head of the Centre for International Cooperation.
The meeting was also attended by representatives of the Marshal's Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship: Monika Zdroik, Deputy Director of the Department for International and Interregional Cooperation, and Monika Morawska, Head of the International Cooperation Unit in the Department of Economic Development.

The signed agreement opens up new opportunities for academic and research cooperation between Gdańsk Tech and institutions in South Korea – particularly in the area of academic exchange. The visit also served as a platform for sharing experiences and discussing the potential for broader joint initiatives within the framework of interregional cooperation between the Pomeranian Voivodeship and Gyeongsangnam-do Province.
