On 9–11 September 2025, Gdańsk University of Technology hosted Walk & Talk Gdańsk 2025, a meeting of the ENHANCE Alliance.

The two-day event focused on the exchange of experiences, project visits, and workshops dedicated to developing transdisciplinarity in education and research.

Participants represented institutions such as ETH Zurich, Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), Warsaw University of Technology, TU Delft, Chalmers University of Technology, and NTNU – Norwegian University of Science and Technology.

Highlights of the programme

  • Europe 4.0 – Digital Citizens (DSc Łukasz Sienkiewicz) – the role of MOOCs and micro-credentials in building digital competences,

  • Climate for Action (Ma Agnieszka Cholewińska, MA Beata Pronobis) – integrating sustainability into study programmes,

  • BIOSOLFarm (BEng, PhD Iwona Cichowska-Kopczyńska, BEng, PhD Edyta Słupek) – hybrid renewable energy sources for small farms (field presentation),

  • AICOSERV (PhD Nina Rizun) – ethical aspects of AI and co-creation of public services with citizens.

Workshops and next steps

During the workshops, participants:

  • developed a categorisation of good practices and tools for the ENHANCE portfolio,

  • explored ways of incorporating underrepresented perspectives.

The outcomes will feed into the next Living Lab, scheduled for April 2026 at NTNU (Trondheim).

The event concluded with benchmarking discussions and a round table on the institutionalisation of transdisciplinarity, where key milestones, tasks, and directions for embedding TD into ENHANCE strategies and programmes were agreed.

The programme was funded by the European Union under the projects:
“Support for European Universities Alliances” (No. FERS.01.05-IP.08-0219/23, 2024 call) and “Strengthening the Potential of Gdańsk University of Technology within the ENHANCE Alliance” (No. BPI/WUE/2024/1/00020).
