Gdańsk University of Technology has signed a cooperation agreement with the Blekinge Institute of Technology in Karlskrona
The agreement was signed by Prof. Józef Sienkiewicz, Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, and Vanja Lindberg, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of BTH. The meeting was also attended by Prof. Mariusz Deja, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Ship Technology, Prof. Wojciech Litwin, Director of the Institute of Shipbuilding, Dr. Eng. Marek Chodnicki, Vice-Dean for International Cooperation, as well as BTH students.
The signed agreement paves the way for intensifying joint activities in research, academic exchange, and student projects, strengthening both universities' position within the international marine engineering community.
The meeting began with a brief conversation about the condition of the shipbuilding industry in both countries, the maritime tradition of Gdynia, and the English-language master’s programmes offered by our university. The participants highlighted previous joint initiatives — including hackathons carried out by students from Karlskrona and Gdańsk University of Technology.
The BTH representatives expressed strong interest in developing deeper cooperation with Polish technical universities. It quickly became clear that shared research interests facilitated productive dialogue — particularly between our university’s Vice-Rector and the BTH representative, both physicists, whose conversations proceeded in exceptionally good rapport.
The event’s agenda also included a meeting with students, during which our lecturers presented areas of cooperation and opportunities for participating in international projects.
