Establishment of the International Cooperation Hub (InterHub)

dr Bartosz Wiśniewski, prof. Christian Jungnickel, prof. Justyna Lubośna
Gdańsk University of Technology has initiated the process of establishing a new organizational unit – the International Cooperation Hub (InterHub). This decision reflects the growing importance of internationalization and the need for better coordination of scientific, educational, and institutional cooperation at the international level.

At the end of February, the currently operating International Cooperation Centre (CWM) will be formally dissolved, and its responsibilities and activities will be taken over by InterHub.

The establishment of InterHub is part of the University’s consistent efforts to enhance the quality of support and coordination of international activities. Particular emphasis is placed on transparency, rapid response, and tailoring actions to the needs of faculties and international partners.

Dr Bartosz Wiśniewski has been appointed Head of InterHub. He will be responsible for the operational development of the Hub and for implementing the strategic goals defined by the University authorities. In terms of academic oversight, the Hub reports to the Vice-Rector for Cooperation, Prof. Józef E. Sienkiewicz, DSc. In connection with the creation of the new organizational unit, Dr habil. Christian Jungnickel, University Professor, has been appointed as the Rector’s Representative for the coordination and monitoring of InterHub’s activities.

InterHub will operate using a transdisciplinary approach and is conceived as an interface for cooperation rather than a traditional administrative unit. It will work closely with faculties and units of Gdańsk University of Technology, as well as with partners from Poland and abroad. Its concept is inspired by initiatives developed within the ENHANCE Alliance by Dr Eng. Justyna Lubośna, University Professor and Head of the ENHANCE Office.

Flexibility of operation and problem-solving-oriented cooperation will be particularly important in fulfilling the Hub’s mission.

The mission of InterHub is to strengthen the international position of Gdańsk University of Technology through joint actions: building strategic partnerships, supporting international initiatives, and creating practical conditions for cooperation across disciplinary, sectoral, and cultural boundaries.
