Migration is one of the key phenomena of the modern world – it has a real impact on societies, economies, and the everyday lives of millions of people. At the same time, it is a topic heavily burdened with stereotypes and simplifications that often overshadow reliable knowledge.
During the meeting, we will take a closer look at migration in the Polish context – both the experience of Polish emigration and the growing presence of foreigners. Together, we will reflect on what we actually know about migration, which beliefs are myths, and which are based on facts.
Program:
- an introductory mini-lecture on migration in Poland
- discussion of the most common myths and facts about migration
- expert talk
- open discussion with participants
The meeting will be led by experts from the Emigration Museum in Gdynia:
- Dr. Kamila Kowalska – political scientist, expert in migration and social integration, affiliated with the University of Gdańsk and research centers in Poland and abroad

- Dr. Rafał Raczyński – political scientist, researcher of migration and diasporas, affiliated with the University of Gdańsk and active in academic and expert work in migration policy

⚖️ Equality without “buts” – how to counteract discrimination in practice?

How can we build a society where equal treatment comes without any “buts”? How should we respond to discrimination, and where can we seek support?
This meeting focuses on the practical dimension of counteracting discrimination – both at the institutional level and in everyday situations. Based on experiences from initiatives carried out in Gdańsk, participants will learn about concrete tools and solutions that support people experiencing unequal treatment.
Program:
- overview of the principles of equal treatment
- case study analysis
- presentation of initiatives supporting people experiencing discrimination
- discussion
The meeting will be led by:
- Marianna Palider – psychologist and CBT psychotherapist, trainer and specialist in supporting anti-discrimination efforts

- Elżbieta Jachlewska – social activist, President of the WAGA Association, expert in equal treatment and social projects
