Between December and February, Gdańsk University of Technology hosted a student from RWTH Aachen University, a member of the ENHANCE – European Universities of Technology Alliance. The three-month research stay was carried out within the framework of the NAWA Programme “Support for European Universities” (Wsparcie Uniwersytetów Europejskich).

During his stay, the student conducted research in the laboratories of Gdańsk University of Technology under the supervision of a mentor, gaining valuable hands-on experience and learning new experimental techniques. According to the participant, the time spent in Gdańsk was both scientifically rewarding and personally inspiring.

“My stay at Gdańsk University of Technology was full of fun and learning. Three months felt like such a short time and it flew away so quickly. It was exciting and motivating to do hands-on experiments and learn new techniques with my mentor. After the laboratory work, I often spent time exploring the city and nearby places in the evening. Gdańsk is one of my favourite cities I have lived in. I am very grateful to the ENHANCE alliance for providing me with this opportunity.”

The NAWA Support for European Universities programme enables stronger cooperation between institutions participating in European university alliances. It provides opportunities for short-term research mobility, allowing students and young researchers to develop their scientific skills and build international academic networks.

Gdańsk University of Technology is an active member of the ENHANCE Alliance, which brings together leading European universities of technology and promotes innovative engineering education and international research collaboration.

Initiatives such as this research stay highlight the importance of international mobility programmes in supporting the development of young researchers and strengthening cooperation between European universities.

The project is financed by the European Union under the "Support for European Universities Alliances" programme (call no. FERS.01.05-IP.08-0219/23 – 2024 intake), titled “Strengthening the Potential of Gdańsk University of Technology in the ENHANCE Alliance” (project no. BPI/WUE/2024/1/00020).
