Combined Degree Studies, Double Degree Studies, Join Programmes Studies
Joint degree programmes, commonly referred to as “Double Degree”, offer students a possibility to obtain diplomas from two or even more universities, as part of one study cycle.
Gdańsk University of Technology signed about 30 programmes on multiple qualification. During the application process, while choosing a field of study, students can consider if a given field of study offers a possibility of multiple qualification, as one of the factors that affect their choice.
As part of a double degree programme, students must complete part of their studies at a partner university, depending on the provisions of a given agreement, which may specify the number of semesters to be completed at a given university – or universities, for agreements made with more universities, methods and rules for completing a diploma thesis, methods of diploma thesis guidance, rules for assigning thesis supervisors from given universities, rules for organising thesis defences.
Double degree programme is characterised by the fact that it is offered jointly by more than one university.
The condition for obtaining a diploma from partner universities is fulfilment of requirements set out by each university. Those requirements are governed by regulations applicable in a given country or at a given university and it also applies to programme requirements for a given field of study.
Students who complete their studies as part of the multiple qualification programmes, by obtaining two or more diplomas, are given an opportunity for better employment in the global market, therefore they have better opportunities for future career.
The rules for applying for double degree studies, which are established by faculties and coordinators of agreements and international exchange, determine the essential requirements.
Assistance in organising double degree study programmes is provided by the Double Degree Studies Working Group, supervised by Justyna Szostak, PhD Eng., Chair of the Committee on Internationalisation.
