Project title: Developing the internationalisation process at Gdańsk Tech through competency training for administrative staff and implementation of organisational improvements.
Description: The workshops hosted from March to May 2019 aimed at developing a model for solving problems of internationalisation, addressed the needs of Gdańsk Tech administrative staff, international students and lecturers that correspond to the university's internationalisation process. The most important issues concerned the communication barrier (language and culture) and the lack of equal access to information for all members of the academic community, including international students. In response to those needs the project focused on developing the process at Gdańsk Tech, including organisation of training on the development of intercultural and language competence, development and implementation of Gdańsk Tech internal documents in two language versions and adjustment of the university’s internal website, MojaPG, to meet the needs of foreigners.
The tasks will be directed at two target groups: Gdańsk Tech support staff, who assist international students and lecturers, as well as the students and lecturers coming from abroad who study/teach in English. Project activities will involve the following entities: International Relations Office, Student Affairs Office, Language Centre, IT Services Centre and ESN Gdańsk, support staff will gain competencies and tools that will enable them to effectively assist international students, while students and lecturers will receive organisational support which is crucial when they adapt to a new environment. The most important benefits of the Project include: building a stronger relationship between the members of the academic community and integrating the activities of different Gdańsk Tech units to better support international students and lecturers.
Open Days at Gdańsk Tech
Open days is an original project of the International Relations Office, developed to introduce the university to international candidates. The pandemic forced us to cancel traditional on-site Open Days, however, the online form turned out to be a very positive change for candidates from abroad – many candidates wanted to see us in person before choosing the university but many of them were not able to do that. Now everyone can “visit” us online. The project is in progress – the materials on individual departments are available, however, other University units can join in at any time.
Open Days at Gdańsk Tech is a project partially funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange, as part of the International Cooperation Project, which was completed by the International Relations Office in March 2021.
