About the meeting

The influx of people is making Polish society increasingly part of a multicultural Europe. Numerous controversies surrounding immigration show that we are still not always ready to live harmoniously with representatives of other cultures. This highlights the growing demand for projects that introduce different cultures or traditions, which is higher than ever before.

The universal language of art forms a solid foundation for building positive, equal relationships and mutual respect. It also connects cultures that differ from each other while providing space for individual expression and reflection. Cultural activities that allow us to explore various traditions, cultures, and customs not only strengthen our own identity but also help us understand what defines its values. One such initiative is the "Window to the World" Culture Festival, organized since 2005 by the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre in Gdańsk. Its uniqueness lies in the ideas and goals behind the event. The festival promotes universal values, such as respect for other cultures and tolerance for religious, political, and social differences. Through its interdisciplinary events, it serves to promote intercultural dialogue.

"Window to the World" is a platform for presenting and collaborating with musicians and artists from diverse cultures. Special emphasis is placed on migrant artists who create outside their place of origin. However, "Window to the World" is not only about musical events; it also includes numerous debates, meetings (such as the “Meetings with the World” series), screenings, exhibitions, and workshops designed for every age group.

During the meeting, we will also learn about other intercultural initiatives organized by the Baltic Sea Cultural Centre. We will explore how cultural activities can influence the integration of people from different cultures. There will also be a presentation of the "Window to the World" Culture Festival, with time for conversation and exchange of experiences.
