Great success - Justyna Szostak a new Director in CESAER

Justyna Szostak, PhD Eng, from the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics
Justyna Szostak, PhD Eng, from the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics, chair of the Internationalization Committee and plenipotentiary of the dean for internationalization at the Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics, was elected a Director in CESAER.

The thirty-sixth ordinary CESAER General Assembly hosted by Technische Universität Dresden elected new members of the Board of Directors to serve from 2023 to 2025:

  • Toril Hernes (Vice-Rector for Innovation of Norwegian University of Science and Technology)
  • Karine Samuel (Vice-President for International Affairs of Université Grenoble Alpes)
  • Justyna Szostak (Chair of the Internationalization Committee of Gdańsk University of Technology)

The General Assembly has elected Toril Hernes, Karine Samuel and Justyna Szostak as new Directors, increasing gender parity and task force leadership in the Board.

Justyna Szostak, PhD Eng: - Academia is not only a place of research and education but also an environment shaping young people, societies, technological development, and the world around us. Thus, it is a great opportunity and honor for me to be elected to the Board to contribute to shaping our association.

CESAER is a non-profit  organization founded in 1990. Currently, it unites 57 leading European technical and comprehensive universities from 26 countries with a strong focus on science & technology. It gathers over 1 million students and almost 100,000 academic staff. CESAER is an acknowledged stakeholder organization working closely with many EU institutions, notably the European Commission, Parliament and Council. Gdańsk University of Technology is a member of CESAER association since 2015.  It is the third Polish University, next to Warsaw University of Technology, and Poznań University of Technology, which joined the organization. The decisive factors in becoming a member of CESAER are, e.g. the vision and strategy of a university, finances, including industry funding, cooperation with business environment, other universities and graduates, employee career paths, research output and publication record, as well as the organization of engineering, master and doctoral study programs.”
