ENHANCE invites - "Ethics and Epistemology of AI" course (register by March 10)

"Ethics and Epistemology of AI
TU Berlin invites master's students and doctoral candidates to participate in an interdisciplinary, hybrid course titled "Ethics and Epistemology of AI," which will start on April 17. Registration is open until March 10. Funding from the Erasmus+ program is available for the on-site part of the course.

The "Ethics and Epistemology of AI" course is a collaborative effort between the Departments of Computer Science, Engineering Sciences, and Philosophy of Technology at TU Berlin. Participants will receive a solid foundation of knowledge on issues at the intersection of technology and ethics. They will then be able to apply this knowledge in group work on projects related to current challenges in the use of AI technology in various fields (such as building social relations).

Organizer

TU Berlin (official university website: www.tu.berlin)

Location

The on-site part of the course will take place at TU Berlin.

Dates

The course consists of both online and on-site sessions:

  • April 17 (online): introduction to the course
  • April 29-May 3 (on-site at TU Berlin): workshops, conference, team project presentations
  • May 8-June 5 (online): consultations
  • June 12 (online): poster presentation session

Who Can Participate?

Master's students and PhD students (regardless of their field of study - participation in the course does not require programming knowledge or skills).

Program

The course program includes theoretical sessions (lectures conducted by TU Berlin faculty) and practical sessions (group work on projects related to the use of artificial intelligence; each group will be required to complete a project and present it during the poster session).

Language of instruction

Since students/PhD students from different countries will participate in the course, all sessions will be conducted in English.

ECTS Credits

Upon completion of the course, a student/PhD student can receive 6 ECTS credits.

Cost

Participation in the course is free, but participants must cover the expenses associated with attending the on-site portion of the course in Berlin, including travel, accommodation, meals, etc. Gdańsk Tech provides a scholarship of 70 euros per day (for the on-site sessions in Berlin, i.e., 5 days x 70 euros per day = 350 euros scholarship).

How to Register?

Interested students/PhD students must send their applications to the email address j.moser@tu-berlin.de. The application should include: first name, last name, university name, and degree program. Applications are accepted until March 10. Students/PhD students who are accepted to participate in the course will then need to go through the Erasmus+ departure procedure at Gdańsk Tech (only then will they receive the scholarship).
