NAWA invites: Swiss Government Scholarships (applications open until November 20)
The National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA) encourages researchers from various fields to apply for Swiss Government Scholarships for research stays, doctoral studies, and postdoctoral fellowships. Applications are open until November 20, 2024.

Each year, the Swiss government awards “Government Excellence Scholarships.” The aim of this initiative is to promote international exchange and research cooperation between Switzerland and over 180 other countries. Scholarships are granted for research or studies at all cantonal Swiss universities, universities of applied sciences, the two federal institutes of technology, as well as four research institutes.

The Swiss Government Scholarship program for Polish citizens for the 2025/26 academic year offers scholarships for:

  • Research stays: Candidates must hold a master's degree by July 31, 2025, or June 30, 2025, for ETH Zurich applicants.
  • Doctoral studies for young graduates (born after December 31, 1989) with a master's degree. Candidates must have their master's degree by July 31, 2025, or June 30, 2025, for ETH Zurich applicants.
  • Postdoctoral fellowships (no age limit): Applicants must have obtained their Ph.D. after December 31, 2021, and before July 31, 2025, or June 30, 2025, for ETH Zurich.

Scholarship details:

  • Duration: 12 months (or 3 years for doctoral studies),
  • Number of scholarships: up to 4,
  • Required proficiency in French, German, Italian, or English,
  • Confirmation of acceptance from the chosen foreign institution is required.

!!! Registration in the NAWA system is a prerequisite for applying for the scholarship.


How to apply for the scholarship?

All documentation must be submitted by November 20, 2024 (the deadline is based on the date the documents are received by NAWA) to the address:
National Agency for Academic Exchange
ul. Polna 40, 00-635 Warsaw.

The documents will be forwarded to the Swiss Embassy in Warsaw, which, after formal verification, will submit them to the Swiss authorities. Results will be announced in May 2025, and the scholarships will be paid by the Swiss side.
