Muhammad Bilal earned his Ph.D. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, specializing in bioengineering and applied biotechnology. His main research activities are oriented to Environmental biotechnology, nanotechnology, enzyme engineering, immobilization, chemical modifications, and industrial applications of microbial enzymes, liquid, and solid waste management – valorization of agro-industrial wastes and biomaterials for bioenergy. He was listed as a highly cited researcher (Clarivate) in 2021 and holds several "highly cited papers" in WOS. Dr. Bilal collaborates with researchers from TOP QS Universities, such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University (China), Tecnologico de Monterrey (Mexico), Nottingham Trent University (UK), Purdue University (USA), Tiradentes University (Brazil), Curtin University (Malaysia), University of Sfax (Tunisia), Khalifa University (UAE), University of Borås (Sweden), ICP-CSIC, C/ Marie Curie 2 (Spain) and University of the Punjab (Pakistan), among other international recognized research centers. He acts as a reviewer of international research agencies, such as Qatar University Internal Grants, the National Science Center, Poland, National Research Program for Universities, Pakistan, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. From 2023 to 2024, he was employed at the Department of Sanitary Engineering in the Nobelium project “Joining Gut Research Community” (DEC-44/2023/IDUB/I.1) at the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Gdansk University of Technology, Poland.
