Semi-annual summary of IDUB programs within the BioTechMed Center in the Year 2024

BioTechMed

The Initiative for Excellence in Research Universities (IDUB) program at Gdansk University of Technology is an important pillar supporting the development of research, innovation and education. In Year 2024, the BioTechMed Center within IDUB continued its activities, encouraging researchers, postdoctoral fellows and students to apply for research project funding.

Number of Applications

In the calls resolved in 2024, 26 projects were awarded under the BioTechMed Center (some applications were submitted in 2023). The effectiveness of obtaining grants is presented in the chart below.

Funds awarded

Grants totaling PLN 2,207,750.35 were awarded in the first half of 2024. Through the Platinum Establishing Top-Class Research Teams program, PLN 1,079,510.00 was awarded for brain-related research “Invasive brain-computer interfaces for electrical modulation of memory in thalamocortical circuits.”

The largest number of grant applications were submitted to the programs: “Radium Learning Through Research Programs” (more than 160,000 were obtained) and Technetium Talent Management Grants (more than 124,000 were obtained).

Four beneficiaries went on internships abroad under mobility programs: Americium and Europium.

Activities under the IDUB PG BioTechMed Center in 2024 contributed to the development of scientific research and the strengthening of cooperation between academics with foreign universities and scientific institutions.

On June 24, presentations and interactive demonstrations in the field of biomedical engineering were held. Participants were able to learn about artificial intelligence in action, see robot demonstrations, discover the application of chemistry and physics knowledge to medicine, learn the secrets of the brain and much more!
