photo
In this year ends the first, four-year period of training at the Doctoral School at Gdansk University of Technology for PhD students who began their education in the new formula in AY 2019/2020.

PhD students of the current fourth year will have to take the doctoral examination this academic year, make sure they have passed all the subjects and other elements of training required by the curriculum, and submit a doctoral dissertation.

In order to answer the questions that have appeared a new tab regarding the procedure for completing training at the Doctoral School and questions related to the doctoral dissertation has been created. On our website we have also published templates of documents related to the completion of training at the Doctoral School.

NOTE!
According to the amendment of the Law on Higher Education and Science (PSWiN Act), introduced by the Act of July 28, 2023, amending the Law on the Teacher's Charter and certain other laws (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 1672), which will come into effect on October 1, 2023, pursuant to Article 13 point 14, the wording of Article 204 paragraph 1 of the PSWiN law is being changed as follows:

Legal status in force until September 30, 2023:
Article 204, paragraph 1: The education of a doctoral candidate is completed by submitting a doctoral dissertation.

Legal status in force from October 1, 2023:
Article 204, paragraph 1: The education of a doctoral candidate is completed by submitting a doctoral dissertation along with a positive opinion from the supervisor or supervisors.

Because the issues of the doctoral examination, dissertation, procedure for awarding the doctor’s degree and the defense of the dissertation are the responsibility of the Councils of the individual Disciplines/Fields/Scientific Councils at the institutes, we have asked their chairpersons to organize informational meetings on these issues. We ask for your patience. If you have any further questions, please contact the chairpersons of the Councils directly.
