ECTS credits - points defined in the European system of accumulation and transfer of credits as a measure of the average workload of the learner, which is necessary to obtain the intended learning outcomes;

At the Gdańsk University of Technology, the credit system was introduced in 2000. It applies to all fields of study, forms of study and levels of education.
ECTS credits are assigned to specific modules / subjects, taking into account the requirements contained in the Rector's ordinance on the principles of creating, running and liquidating study programs at the Gdańsk University of Technology.

When estimating the number of ECTS points for a given module / course, it should be assumed that one ECTS point corresponds to 25–30 hours of work of a student covering classes organized by the university and his individual work related to these classes.

Pursuant to the statutory provisions, the number of ECTS points required to complete the first-cycle bachelor's studies should not be less than 180, first-cycle studies not less than 210 ECTS points, and second-cycle studies not less than 90 points.
