On 16th of June, there took place the European Commission (EC) representatives visit assessing the implementation of HRS4R actions in the university as well as renewal of HR Excellence in Research logo use right. The assessors, chaired by Prof. Adriana Burlea-Schiopoiu, talked to the university authorities, four groups of researchers including early-stage career researchers and administrative staff. The talks were on Gdańsk Tech activities in the area of ethics and equality support, enhancing internationalization, commercialization and intellectual property management, supporting of project preparation, research fundraising, actions focused on employee development and changes in the process of academics recruitment. The EC assessing committee chairperson summarized the meeting as successful and Gdańsk Tech hitherto activities adopting the Charter and Code for Researchers (HRS4R implementation) as model and consistent. Currently, we are awaiting the assessment report.

It is worth mentioning that Gdańsk University of Technology was granted the right to use HR Excellence in Research logo in 2017. Since then, over 60 actions improving work conditions and career development (including barriers elimination, work facilitation, process unification and transparency) have been done. In the current HRS4R for 2022 – 2025, thanks to focused group meetings and conclusions of survey on early-stage career researchers’ development barriers, 28 consecutive actions have been defined.
