hr2

The new regulations for the periodic evaluation of academic teachers, which introduce significant changes in the method of assessing the work of academic staff, was announced on 5 February 2025.

Work on the modifications to the previous regulations (No. 78/2021 of 21 December 2021), was carried out in the years 2021-2024 and included, among others, public consultations and changes in legal regulations.

Key events in this process:

  • 12.2021 – introduction of the Gender Equality Plan at Gdańsk University of Technology,

  • 11.2022 – introduction of the HR4R Strategy for 2022-2025,

  • 06.2024 – appointment of a team for verifying the requirements in the criteria for periodic evaluation of academic teachers,

  • 08.2024 – presentation of the position of the “Solidarność” Trade Union Commission regarding the above regulations,

  • 11.2024 – application by young researchers from the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering to extend the assessment deadline for young scientists,

  • 01.2025 – opinion of trade unions, SSPG and SDPG and positive opinion on the draft of new regulations by Gdańsk Tech Senate.

The most important changes introduced in the regulations from 2025 are:

  1. enabling applications to take into account a difficult life situation,

  2. postponing the assessment date for young scientists – from 12 to 18 months from employment,

  3. introducing rules for assessing teachers based on the quality of work, not points,

  4. extending the list of activities that teachers can undertake,

  5. enabling demonstration of other documented activities that can be classified as scientific-research and implementation or teaching or organizational activity.

The last assessment of all teachers at Gdańsk Tech took place in 2022. According to the new regulations, the next assessment will take place in 2026, which is in line with the statutory requirement to conduct an assessment at least once every four years.
