We are temporarily pausing the collection of items. Thank you for your support.
For just two more days, the Hydromechanics building will accept items for refugees from Ukraine.
- We are suspending the fundraising campaign for today, but we do not rule out that in the near future we will renew the call for donation. We will try to respond to the current, most important needs of the current residents of the dormitory in Brzeźno - says Monika Czerepak, Deputy Head of the International Relations Office.
Gdańsk Tech in solidarity with Ukraine
Thanks to the huge commitment of the academic community - employees and students, but also the citizens of Gdańsk, during the three weeks of the collection for refugees from Ukraine, several hundred boxes and bags with gifts were collected.
- Thanks to the donations, we managed to prepare the student house in Brzeźno for the arrival of people from Ukraine. The rooms were equipped with bed sheets and blankets, the most necessary cosmetics were available in the bathrooms, coffee, tea, sweets and small snacks were waiting for guests from Ukraine in the kitchenettes. We also took care of food supplies with a long shelf life in open kitchens, as well as dishes and cleaning products - says Anna Modrzejewska, Head of the International Relations Office.
In turn, the numerous toys, board games, puzzles, coloring tools and books allowed to equip the common room operating in the dormitory, which is already used by the youngest guests from Ukraine.
Currently, over 100 people live in the dormitory in Brzeźno - mainly mothers with children. The dormitory, which is safe and equipped with the most necessary things, will remain their home as long as the situation requires it.
The collection would not be possible without the enormous support of the Chancellor of the Gdańsk University of Technology, M.Sc. Eng. Mariusz Miler, the Administration Office, the Property Protection Office, the Student Housing Estate, the Promotion Office and the Student Government of Gdańsk University of Technology.
Many thanks are also due to all employees and students who volunteered their time and energy to help pack, describe and carry the collected items. As an academic community, we showed a great heart and solidarity with the Ukrainian nation. We hope that this willingness to help will stay with us as long as possible.
