2 million PLN for the PROM project – short-term academic exchange
The “PROM – short-term academic exchange” project is one of many NAWA projects which aims to develop university internationalisation. It allows students and university staff to acquire knowledge and skills in an international environment. It also makes it easier for Polish higher education and research institutions to establish and strengthen cooperation with institutions abroad [to learn more about the project, click here].
Broaden your horizons with Gdańsk University of Technology
In this year's edition of the ‘PROM’ programme NAWA has granted to the Gdańsk University of Technology 1 999 000,00 PLN for running the project under the marketing name „Expand Your Horizonts with Gdańsk Tech”. The total amount of NAWA funding awarded was 30 038 979,46 PLN, which was distributed across 19 institutions such as those in Warsaw, Cracow, Łódź, Katowice, Wrocław, Białystok and Gdańsk, among others. The project within the program has received EU funding.
“The project was established through close cooperation of the International Relations Office with the Doctoral School and individual faculties, of which we are particularly proud. We would like to thank our colleagues a lot for their joint efforts and, at the same time, we look forward to continuing our cooperation on the Project, which will be exceptionally intense. In just one year, we will have to complete activities for almost 2 million PLN, which will benefit about 250 people not only from Gdańsk Tech, but also other partner universities abroad”, said Anna Modrzejewska, Head of International Relations Office.
Benefit for students, PhD students and staff
The main objective of the "Expand Your Horizons with Gdańsk Tech" Project is to improve the quality of education and advance internationalization at Gdańsk University of Technology through short-term scholarship exchanges for students, PhD students and staff.
Anna Modrzejewska: The previous editions of the PROM programme were aimed at PhD students. Thanks to the fact that the programme has been extended to students and staff for this year's edition, we were able to extend the activities to a wider audience.
Within the Project, the following activities will be undertaken:
- student and PhD student arrivals and departures for summer and winter schools provided in stationary and hybrid format;
- student, PhD student and staff arrivals and departures for international conferences;
- student, PhD student and staff arrivals and departures to partner universities in order to obtain materials for master's/doctoral theses and research papers and/or to do research using unique research equipment;
- student, PhD student and staff arrivals and departures for participation in study visits to partner universities.
The Project will cover about 250 people - students, PhD students and staff, including about 170 people from Gdańsk Tech and about 80 people from foreign universities.
Maria Doerffer, Erasmus+ Institutional Coordinator: - The project will complement and extend the Erasmus+ programme, which offers placements or going abroad to study, but not to attend an international conference, study visit or obtain materials for master's or doctoral theses. Thus, our students, PhD students and staff will gain a new source of funding for their mobility.
