ENHANCE invites - staff week on inclusion and diversity

Politecnico di Milano, Gdańsk Tech partner's university, announces an open call for “ENHANCing Talent for All” staff week (13-15 June). Support and academic staff interested in joining the event can register by 10 May. The number of places is limited. 

In 2022, Gdańsk University of Technology joined the ENHANCE Alliance - an association of 10 European technical universities. Thanks to the presence at ENHANCE, students and employees of Gdańsk Tech have the opportunity to participate in winter and summer schools, seminars and other interesting events on various topics. The next such an event will be organized by Politecnico di Milano. “ENHANCing Talent for All” staff week will be held in June. It main purpose will be to promote and mainstream the core values of ENHANCE such as: diversity, inclusivity and gender equality. 


General information about the staff week 

  • When? 13-15 June 2023
  • Where? Milan, Italy  
  • For who? The staff week targets staff working in the following professional areas: human resources, equal opportunities, marketing and recruitment, student services. Both junior and senior staff are welcome. ENHANCE strongly encourages the participation of staff that are not exposed to the international environment in their daily activities.
  • Funding: Erasmus+ program (you will have to apply for Erasmus+ funds at Gdańsk Tech) 


Program of the staff week

 (All the activities will be conducted in English)
 

DAY 1 – VALORIZING DIVERSITY Tuesday 13th June 9:30 – 16:30

The first day will start with a welcome speech by Prof. Mara Tanelli, Rector’s Delegate for Diversity&Inclusion. A presentation of ENHANCE, with particular attention to the work package on gender and inclusion, and ice-breaking activities will follow. In the afternoon, participants will reflect on the current state of affairs and compare inclusion and diversity policies in their working environments.

DAY 2 – REVEALING TALENT Wednesday 14th June 9:30 – 18:30

The second day will be focused on talent, in order to explore how technical universities can remove barriers and create facilitating conditions for the development of talent. The day will be introduced by an interview of two exceptional student testimonials. Afterward, Melih Oezkardes, Ombudsman for Diversity and Gender Equality, will engage participants in a reflection and activities on the topic of revealing talent. In the afternoon, participants will have the chance to meet and discuss with Prof. Amalia Ercoli Finzi, the first Italian woman to graduate in aeronautical engineering and one of the world’s most important personalities in the field of aerospace sciences and technologies. The day will end with a guided tour of a few impressive POLIMI laboratories and a happy hour.

DAY 3 – FACING STEREOTYPES Thursday 15th June 9:30 – 15:30

On the third day, participants will attend a panel on stereotypes conducted by a psychologist expert on the theme, followed by group work. The staff week will close with a speech and a final reflection on the main takeaways of the three days program.


How to apply?

  • step 1: by 10 May complete a short questionnaire 
  • step 2: after being accepted at Gdańsk Tech, complete a questionnaire at Politecnico di Milano (the link will be sent to participants via mail)
