COMBATING CORONAVIRUS – new program for Gdańsk Tech researchers

Up to PLN 200,000 for financial support of scientific teams submitting original research ideas in the field of basic or applied research with implementation potential related to combating the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus epidemic. The COMBATING CORONAVIRUS program is a new initiative implemented under the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” program. Its aim is to expand knowledge regarding the understanding of the mechanism, methods of diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of the disease’s spread, as well as the use of IT tools in this area.

The competition budget amounts to PLN 600,000, with a maximum funding of PLN 200,000 for research. The research may be planned for a period not exceeding 12 months. Under this competition, financial resources may be granted for remuneration of the research team and to cover other costs related to the planned research expenditures, as well as costs associated with the submission of a patent application. Support may also cover preparatory activities, such as modernization or equipping laboratories, which will enable applying for external funds for the planned research or applied work. It is possible to submit a project to the competition that will be carried out in cooperation with scientists from the Medical University of Gdańsk.

• Funds under the Program are awarded through a competition procedure.
• Call for applications is open from June 8 to June 22, 2020.
• Applications should be submitted electronically to granty@pg.edu.pl to the IDUB Project Implementation Team.
