On Thursday, April 7, Gdańsk Tech hosted CPK Day, which allowed Gdańsk Tech students to learn about the activities and development plans of the Central Communication Port. In addition to lectures and debates for students, the university authorities and the CPK company also signed a cooperation agreement.
The Central Communication Port is a planned hub between Warsaw and Łódź, designed to integrate air, rail, and road transport. As part of this project, on an area of approximately 3,000 hectares and located 37 km west of Warsaw, the "Solidarność" Airport is to be established. The second component of the investment is a rail junction in the immediate vicinity of the airport, along with a network of lines across the entire country, intended to enable travel between Warsaw and the largest Polish cities in under 2.5 hours.
Details about the investment were presented to Gdańsk Tech students during CPK Day. The event was organized in cooperation with the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Gdańsk Tech in the Main Building Auditorium, and the representatives of the company and the Gdańsk Tech academic community were welcomed by Prof. Dariusz Mikielewicz, Vice-Rector for Organization and Development. Students then participated in lectures, presentations, and expert debates with representatives from both sides. In the hall in front of the Auditorium, at the CPK stands, students had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the company's activities and cooperation proposals.
– The Central Communication Port is currently the largest infrastructure project in Poland – said Radosław Kantak, Member of the Management Board of CPK. – Today, we presented to the students of Gdańsk Tech how the work on this project is progressing while encouraging them to connect their professional future with it. We hope that cooperation with Gdańsk Tech will allow CPK to expand its research and development base and stimulate the emergence of new technologies that will positively impact not only the implementation of the CPK project but also the competitiveness of the Polish economy – he added.
