Soon, ten enterprising graduates of Gdańsk Tech will establish their first business in one of the key industries for our region. They will be assisted by the latest initiative of the Gdańsk Employment Office. The program provides financial support of over PLN 50,000, as well as dedicated training, specialized workshops, and professional business coaching. Participant recruitment starts in July 2025.

The Gdańsk Labour Office plans to harness the business energy and specialist knowledge of Gdańsk Tech graduates. The Gdańsk Tech program was created with them in mind. It aims to help 10 individuals under the age of 30 to start their own businesses, particularly in one of the sectors important to our region. These include the so-called Pomeranian Smart Specializations, which cover technologies such as offshore and port-logistics, interactive technologies, green energy, and medical sectors, as well as key industries for Gdańsk and Gdańsk County. In the capital of Pomerania, these are the creative, leisure, and tourism sectors. For the neighboring county, the indicated industries include construction, creative, agro-food, metal-machinery, and plastics sectors.

Start-up Grant

Participants in the program can expect substantial support. This primarily includes a grant for starting a business of up to PLN 45,000. The received funds may be allocated, among other things, to the purchase of production machinery, engineering tools, licenses for specialized software, or the acquisition of necessary raw materials, components, and semi-finished products. Additionally, so-called bridging support is planned. This is an extra PLN 7,200 that can be spent on covering current business expenses, including tax, accounting, telecommunications, operational, and administrative fees.

Essential Business Knowledge

The program also provides a solid portion of knowledge. Participants will have access to consultancy and workshops on preparing documentation necessary to obtain funding for starting a business. Although the entire process of completing the required documentation will be discussed during the sessions, particular emphasis will be placed on properly justifying expenses and correctly formulating business objectives.

Future entrepreneurs will also have a special training course on running a business. The course will cover, among others, various methods of analyzing the market and competition, key legal and formal aspects of conducting business activity, including company registration processes, taxation forms, and intellectual property protection. Significant emphasis will also be placed on the use of modern technologies and business process automation, including artificial intelligence tools and modern management methods.

The third part of support will be individual business coaching sessions. These will focus on developing skills necessary for effective business management. Under the guidance of an expert, participants can learn, among other things, efficient time management, setting and achieving business goals, as well as enhancing motivation and self-discipline.
