How to effectively present the potential of technology to a business partner? How to secure research results and efficiently navigate the patent application process? Participants explored the answers to these questions during the two-day workshop "From Idea to Implementation – How to Effectively Present Technology and Protect Intellectual Property (IP)," organized by the PG Business Hub on July 1-2, 2026, for the academic staff of Gdańsk Tech. The training aimed to develop competencies that support the commercialization of research results and conscious management of intellectual property.
Several dozen people representing most of the faculties of Gdańsk Tech participated in the event. The program was divided into two modules, combining practical exercises with the opportunity to consult their own research projects and technologies.
The first day of the workshop, dedicated to effective technology presentation and preparing an offer understandable for business, was led by Marcin Stolarek, Lead Specialist for Technology Commercialization from the Biznes Hub team. Participants worked on their own examples, learning how to clearly communicate the value of technology, define its competitive advantages, and prepare materials supporting cooperation with enterprises.
The second module concerned intellectual property (IP) protection and was prepared by the Patent Attorneys Team of Gdańsk Tech. The training was partially hybrid – the presentation by patent attorney Justyna Pawłowska was conducted remotely, while the part prepared by Sławomir Ćwikliński and Karolina Szambelan was held on-site. During the second module, there was space both for delivering knowledge about industrial property protection and for direct consultations with experts. Participants learned about the invention disclosure procedures applicable at Gdańsk Tech, the most common challenges, and practical aspects of safeguarding research outcomes.
The participants actively engaged in discussion, sharing their experiences from ongoing research projects and discussing specific cases of developed technologies. Numerous questions and the exchange of experiences showed that issues related to commercialization and intellectual property protection are an important element of scientific activity conducted at Gdańsk Tech.
We thank all participants for their active involvement and commitment, and the facilitators for sharing practical knowledge and experience. We are pleased with the high interest in the training and the strong engagement of participants throughout both modules.
Those who were unable to participate in the recent edition are invited to the next workshop session. A similar training block is planned for the beginning of the 2026/2027 academic year. Details regarding dates and registration will be published on the PG Biznes Hub channels.
