Three researchers from Gdańsk Tech: Prof. Beata Bochentyn, Prof. Robert Bogdanowicz and Prof. Aleksandra Parteka were among the 12 distinguished outstanding researchers from the Tri-City featured in the outdoor exhibition “Science is US!" organised by Hevelianum.
The exhibition Science is Us - Hevelianum can be viewed at Skwer Jana Heweliusza near the Great Mill in Gdańsk from June 27 to mid-August 2026. We encourage you to visit!
- Dr hab. Eng. Beata Bochentyn, Prof. Gdańsk Tech (Faculty of Applied Physics and Mathematics) is engaged in searching for and studying new materials used in high-temperature fuel cells and electrolyzers. These devices convert the chemical energy of fuel and oxidizer into electrical energy and vice versa, serving simultaneously as environmentally friendly storage. She also searches for catalysts for the selective decomposition of hydrogen-rich gas mixtures. Prof. Bochentyn describes the mechanisms affecting the potential of these materials, improving system performance and reducing the consumption of critical raw materials.
- Prof. Dr hab. Eng. Robert Bogdanowicz (Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics at Gdańsk Tech) is an electronics engineer and technologist. He leads a research group that produces diamonds — not the ones found on rings, but thin layers just thousandths of a millimeter thick. Prof. Bogdanowicz's research shows that diamond is not only a decoration. It is one of the most versatile electronic materials known today. Sensors developed by Prof. Bogdanowicz's team have real applications in environmental protection and medicine, where they enable identification of viruses and bacteria. Moreover, flexible polymer sensors made from laser-induced graphene can be incorporated into wearable devices.
- Dr hab. Eng. Aleksandra Parteka, Prof. Gdańsk Tech (Faculty of Management and Economics) specializes in international economics. She conducts empirical research on trade, production, technological, and social interdependencies worldwide. Her research helps understand how ties between countries affect prosperity and the situation of people in labor markets. She also investigates which countries, regions, or institutions specialize in innovative activities and what this may imply in terms of global economic leadership. Prof. Parteka, together with her team, builds a measurable picture of integration processes worldwide — based not on speculation or assumptions, but on reliable economic data.
