Beyond 7 mountains, beyond 7 dunes, beyond 7 books and beyond 7 ideas... the 13th Children's Literature Festival, among others, at Gdańsk Tech together with the Gdańsk Tech Library!
From October 13 to 18, Gdańsk will transform into a city of stories. The 13th Children's Literature Festival, organized by the Brainstorm Foundation, is 6 days and 40 events dedicated to mystery and horror: author meetings, workshops, evening readings, exhibitions, a play, a film screening, a concert, and a conference for teachers and librarians.
The slogan of this year’s festival edition – “Something’s Following Me!” – posits that fear and mystery are important literary experiences for children rather than threats. Participants will discover how literature tames fear and why a thrill is safely needed by children.
A part of the program is the series "Readings After Sunset" – "The Storytellers’ Fairy Tales: The Beginning of an Adventure." One of the evening meetings will take place on 14.10 within our university premises, at the Heweliusz Courtyard. The mysterious, unique atmosphere of the technical university spaces in the evening edition will perfectly complement the theme of the event, and the introduction to the ambiance of the place will be given by PhD Anna Lepacka from the Library’s History and Museum Collections Workshop at Gdańsk Tech, who will present the fascinating history of Gdańsk Tech. The event will start at 7 p.m.
About the festival
The Children's Literature Festival, organized by the Kraków-based Brainstorm Foundation in cooperation with a dozen local partners – including the Institute of Urban Culture in Gdańsk and the Kraków Festival Office – is one of the largest and most recognizable events dedicated to children’s literature in Poland. Since 2015, it has been held annually primarily in Gdańsk and Kraków. The program includes meetings and workshops with the best creators of books for children and youth, film screenings, plays, concerts, walks, and a conference for teachers and librarians. The aim of the festival is to raise a generation of conscious and active readers.
