First place in Poland and a rise in the global ranking for Gdańsk University of Technology in UI GreenMetric 2025

UI GreenMetric is an international ranking that evaluates universities worldwide in terms of their actions for sustainable development.

Gdańsk University of Technology has participated in the ranking since 2018. In the 2025 edition, the university achieved the best result in its history, placing 130th in the world (up from 199th in 2024), 38th in Europe, and 1st in Poland. Previously, the university’s highest position was 137th in 2021; however, at that time only 956 institutions were ranked, while in 2025 the number reached 1,745.

November turned out to be a month of exceptional distinctions for the Gdańsk University of Technology. Prof. Krzysztof Wilde, Rector of Gdańsk Tech, received two important awards, confirming that the Gdańsk University of Technology is among the very best in Poland. They highlight the high quality of scientific publications and the professional management of the university.

The awards were presented during two key events for the academic community: the LUMEN 2025 conference and the CRASP meeting, both held in Krakow.

FarU VR goggles for the MUG, Gdańsk Tech and the UG

The Fahrenheit Union of Universities has launched a new educational initiative aimed at popularising science through the use of immersive technologies. In October, FarU loaned VR goggles and accessories to its member universities, which can be used by academic staff and students during classes, open days, education fairs and activities outside the universities.

As part of the project, the Medical University of Gdańsk, the Gdańsk University of Technology and the University of Gdańsk received six pairs of VR goggles with controllers, accessories and carrying cases, as well as equipment necessary for safe and comfortable work: barrier posts with tape, a disinfection stand and a fabric partition.

Gdańsk Tech among the top European technical universities – EngiRank 2025 results

On 1 December 2025, the results of the third edition of the European technical university ranking were published. The Gdańsk University of Technology once again confirmed its strong position, ranking second nationally for the third time in a row, jointly with the Silesian University of Technology, and 67th in Europe.

Switzerland, Norway, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Ukraine, Serbia, North Macedonia, Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Regional NAWA–EURAXESS Network Meeting at Gdańsk Tech

On 2 December 2025, Gdańsk University of Technology hosted another meeting of the regional NAWA–EURAXESS Network, implemented through the European Social Development Funds 2021–2027 (FERS).

Representatives of institutions from across the Pomeranian Voivodeship gathered to discuss current initiatives and future directions of cooperation supporting researchers and their families.

The meeting was opened and moderated by Monika Czerepak, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Centre at Gdańsk University of Technology.

Scholarship of the Minister of Science and Higher Education for Young Researchers

Applications for the prestigious scholarship for outstanding young researchers are open until 31 December 2025. The programme administered by the Minister of Science and Higher Education is one of the most significant forms of recognition for individuals who — at an early stage of their academic career — already show an impressive research record and dynamic development.

Who may apply for the scholarship?

The competition is open to individuals who, on the date of submitting the application and at the moment the Minister’s decision is issued, meet the criteria of a young researcher.

Applicants who submit their application as doctoral candidates but complete their education in the doctoral school between the date of submission and the date on which the decision is issued may receive the scholarship only if, on the date the decision is issued, they:

Call for Proposals: Erasmus+ Cooperation with Non-Associated Third Countries

The new edition of the Erasmus+ call has been announced. Gdańsk University of Technology invites its staff members to submit proposals for cooperation with higher education institutions from non-associated third countries. Submitted proposals will be included in the university’s application for funding.
